The Gujarat State Chapter of the Geriatric Society of India (GSI) successfully hosted the GSI Midterm National Conference 2026 on April 18 and 19 at the esteemed Atal-Kalam Research Park Auditorium, Gujarat University. This landmark gathering marks the first conference of its kind in the state, underscoring Gujarat’s growing role in advancing geriatric healthcare in India.

As India’s elderly population steadily expands, the demand for specialized medical expertise and dedicated care models has become increasingly urgent. Addressing this need, the conference provided a dynamic platform for healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, examine contemporary challenges, and explore emerging innovations in geriatric medicine.

The thoughtfully curated two-day program aimed to bridge the gap between current clinical practices and evolving medical advancements. It featured keynote addresses by distinguished faculty and national leaders, offering valuable insights into the changing landscape of elderly care. Engaging panel discussions brought together experts from multiple disciplines to deliberate on integrated care approaches and policy frameworks, while case-based sessions delivered practical, real-world perspectives on managing complex geriatric conditions. Together, these elements created a rich, application-oriented learning experience for all participants.

Emphasizing the conference’s vision, the organizing committee members explained, “Our goal is to elevate the standards of elderly care through meaningful academic dialogue. By convening leading minds from across the country, we strive to build a healthcare ecosystem that is better equipped to meet the unique needs of our aging population.”

Notably, The Geriatric Society of India is a premier national organization committed to advancing geriatric medicine and promoting the well-being of senior citizens. The Gujarat State Chapter plays an active role in this mission through education, research, and community outreach initiatives. Under the leadership of Dr. Jitendra Patel and Dr. Urmil Shah, along with coordinator Ketan Acharya, the chapter warmly invites medical practitioners, researchers, and students to be part of this impactful movement in elderly healthcare.
