Marking its 75th year of service to the accounting profession, the Chartered Accountants Association, Ahmedabad (CAAA) is set to host the fourth edition of its flagship Articleship Mela on July 3 at the Gujarat Sports Club, expanding the initiative beyond student placements into a broader professional development platform.

The offline event has emerged as one of Ahmedabad’s most structured platforms connecting first-year Chartered Accountancy students with firms offering articleship opportunities. Participation is free for students, while CA firms can register by paying a nominal fee. The organisers expect strong participation from both aspiring Chartered Accountants and leading firms across the city.

Unlike conventional placement drives, the Articleship Mela uses a structured matching process. Students register their preferred areas of practice—including audit, taxation, GST and internal audit—along with their preferred locations. Firms, in turn, specify their recruitment criteria, enabling a technology-driven shortlisting process before candidates appear for on-the-spot interviews.

Speaking about the initiative, CA Dr. Anjali Choksi, President of CAAA, said “the continued confidence shown by both students and firms has transformed the Articleship Mela into a trusted institution. She noted that the Platinum Jubilee edition aims to build a wider ecosystem that supports the profession beyond articleship placements”.

Edition 4.0 also introduces several new initiatives. These include facilitating placements for paid assistants in CA firms through collaborations with educational institutions, organising artificial intelligence workshops for corporates and professional organisations, strengthening partnerships with other professional associations, and hosting a series of Platinum Jubilee knowledge, fellowship and cultural programmes throughout the year.

Chief Coordinator CA Bishan Shah said “the objective is to replace the uncertainty often associated with articleship recruitment by creating a transparent, merit-based matching system. He added that the association now intends to extend the same structured approach to staffing, professional training and industry collaboration”.

Established 75 years ago, CAAA is among India’s oldest voluntary professional bodies for Chartered Accountants and has played a significant role in professional development, student welfare and leadership initiatives across Gujarat. The association believes its flagship Articleship Mela reflects its continued commitment to building a future-ready accounting profession.
