Chintan, Himansh, Het win men’s qualifying round matches

Seasoned paddler Chintan Oza of Rajkot brushed aside Murtuza Rangwala of Valsad without dropping a game to win his qualifying round match in men’s category at the DPA 2nd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2026 which is underway at the Late MP Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Adipur, from July 17 to 19.

Organised by the Kachchh District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA), the three-day championship is sponsored by Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) with Stiga as equipment partner, carries a total prize purse of ₹2.90 lakh, besides additional gifts for winners.

Many men’s qualifying round matches witnessed one-sided contests as Ahmedabad’s Himansh Dahiya eased past Pratham Bachani of Bhavnagar 12-10, 11-2, 11-4, while Het Thakar of Rajkot defeated Kahan Gohel of Bhavnagar in straight games. Surat’s Riaan Shah also progressed with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Rajkot’s Pavan Detroja.

In the U-19 boys’ qualifiers, Sagar Makwana of Bhavnagar, Saumya Desani of Bhavnagar, Aarav Singhvi of Kachchh and Surat’s Anay Bachhawat too secured wins.

The U-15 boys’ qualifiers also produced dominant performances as Surat boys Jai Mundada and Nihaan Limbachiya produced straight-games victories. Ahmedabad’s Naksh Patel registered a convincing win over Raksh Mehul Sanghvi of Vadodara while Kachchh’s Punya Mehta recovered from losing the opening game to defeat Krishna Jethava of Bhavnagar 3-1 and complete the list of notable qualifying match winners.

Men’s top seeds Jaynil Mehta, Pratham Maldani, Janmejay Patel and Nutanshu Dayama will play their main draw matches after receiving top billing.

The U-19 boys’ category is spearheaded by Janmejay Patel, followed by Ved Panchal, Himansh Dahiya and Malav Panchal, while Anay Bachhawat, Dhruv Bhambhani, Riaan Shah and Rajveer Madhavani occupy the top four seedings in the U-15 boys’ event.
