Marengo CIMS Hospitals has become Gujarat’s first hospital to introduce a 24×7 AI-powered remote patient monitoring ecosystem for high-risk patients, enabling continuous monitoring not only inside the hospital but also after discharge at home and even while patients are travelling. During a presentation on the evolution of AI in healthcare, Gaurav Sharma, Chief Strategy Officer, Marengo Asia Healthcare, explained how artificial intelligence is shifting healthcare from reactive treatment to predictive and preventive care. He demonstrated the functioning of the hospital’s AI-powered remote monitoring platform, highlighting how wearable biosensors continuously capture vital parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and other physiological indicators.
The AI engine analyses this data in real time, detects subtle warning signs of deterioration and instantly alerts the patient’s smartphone, the treating doctor and Marengo CIMS Hospitals’ dedicated 24×7 Central Monitoring Command Centre, enabling immediate clinical intervention before a medical emergency occurs. He said AI is empowering doctors with early warning scores, explainable risk insights and real-time clinical summaries, leading to faster, more informed and personalised treatment decisions.

The AI platform creates a connected care ecosystem that follows the patient throughout the healthcare journey—from ambulance and emergency care to ICU, hospital wards and home recovery. By continuously analysing patient data, the system enables doctors to identify life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmias and stroke risks much earlier than conventional monitoring methods, significantly improving patient safety and outcomes.
Speaking on the breakthrough, Dr. Dhiren Shah, Director, CVTS & Heart Transplant Programme, Marengo CIMS Hospital, said, “We have been using this AI-enabled biosensor technology for more than two and a half years to continuously monitor patients at high risk of cardiac and other life-threatening conditions. During this period, we have monitored over 6,551 high-risk patients, prevented 836 cases of clinical deterioration, avoided 115 Code Blue emergencies, prevented 81 ICU transfers, and facilitated three life-saving CPR interventions. These outcomes demonstrate how AI-assisted continuous monitoring enables timely medical intervention and significantly improves patient safety. More importantly, this AI-powered technology serves as a ‘hospital without walls,’ allowing our clinical teams to monitor patients round the clock—even after discharge and while they are at home or travelling—ensuring continuity of care and early intervention whenever needed.”

The technology is particularly beneficial for patients suffering from heart failure, weakened heart function, high-risk cardiovascular disease, stroke risk, asthma and other chronic critical illnesses. Unlike conventional monitoring that is limited to hospital stays, the AI platform enables doctors to remotely monitor patients even after discharge, ensuring continuity of care while allowing patients to recover safely in the comfort of their homes.
Marengo CIMS Hospitals has also established a dedicated 24×7 AI Monitoring Command Centre, where trained clinical teams continuously review patient data, verify alerts and coordinate with treating doctors whenever intervention is required.
