IIMA, Cyril Shroff Launch Leadership Academy for General Counsels

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and Cyril Shroff, Founder and Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, have joined hands to establish the Cyril Shroff–IIMA GC Leadership Academy, a new initiative focused on developing future-ready General Counsels (GCs).

The MoU was signed and the Academy was officially launched at the IIMA campus. The initiative aims to serve as a premier learning hub for the GC community through executive education, research, knowledge products and thought leadership.

Academy to Focus on Business, AI and Boardroom Leadership

The Academy will focus on four key areas: boardroom and enterprise leadership; integration of business, finance and strategy; technology, AI and emerging-risk readiness; and global peer learning and thought leadership.

The initiative comes as the role of General Counsels increasingly expands beyond legal advisory functions to include strategy, governance, risk management, technology and business transformation. Through IIMA’s case-based and interdisciplinary management education, the Academy will help legal leaders develop the skills required for greater enterprise-wide responsibilities.

IIMA Director Prof. Bharat Bhasker said the initiative addresses the evolving needs of General Counsels and will strengthen leadership at the intersection of law, business and governance. Cyril Shroff said the Academy represents a long-term effort to build stronger leadership pathways for the in-house counsel community.
