The Ahmedabad Heritage Heroes have officially unveiled their team logo as they prepare to participate in the proposed Gujarat Kabaddi League, with an ambitious focus on taking the sport beyond league competition and creating a stronger kabaddi ecosystem in the state.

Associated with Pentaforce Sports, the Ahmedabad-based team aims to promote kabaddi, identify emerging talent, provide players with better training and create more opportunities to compete. The Gujarat State Kabaddi Association is organising the Gujarat Kabaddi League as part of efforts to further promote the sport across the state.

From league to long-term development

Sports promoter Jagat Patel said the initiative goes beyond simply participating in the league. He said the focus would include developing modern sports facilities, providing training and guidance to players and creating more competitive opportunities in Ahmedabad and across Gujarat.

“Kabaddi is one of India’s traditional and popular sports,” Patel said, noting that the sport’s growing professional recognition has increased interest among young people. He added that Gujarat has considerable talent but needs the right platform, quality coaching and regular competition to help players progress.

According to Patel, player development must extend beyond competitions to include coaching, fitness, nutrition and modern sports facilities.

Academy planned, target of 4,000 players

Pentaforce Sports is also planning to establish a kabaddi academy. The organisation estimates that around 400 players are currently undergoing kabaddi training in Ahmedabad, with an objective of taking the number beyond 4,000 in a short period. The initiative plans to identify talent from different parts of Gujarat and connect players with structured training and competitive opportunities.

Bhaskar Bhatt, associated with Ahmedabad Heritage Heroes, said the team’s objective is to create a stronger and more organised platform for kabaddi in Gujarat. He said the initiative would seek to provide opportunities to talent from both cities and rural areas rather than limiting its focus to a single league or competition.

Focus extends to Gujarat’s wider sports ecosystem

Bhatt also stressed that the development of Gujarat’s sports sector should not be restricted to kabaddi. He said athletes across different sports need proper facilities, training and guidance to compete at national and international levels.

He further highlighted the importance of coordination among the government, sports associations, coaches, players and other stakeholders to address issues faced by athletes and sports organisations.

Ahmedabad Heritage Heroes and Pentaforce Sports said they will work towards strengthening kabaddi and promoting a broader sports culture in Gujarat. The initiative will involve support from stakeholders including the Gujarat State Kabaddi Association, Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, Bhagwan Sahay Yogiji and  K.C. Suthar.
