The skies over Bhavnagar will come alive with spectacular aerial manoeuvres as the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) presents a nine-aircraft aerobatic display at Bortalav on November 1, 2026, at 10:30 am.

Flying nine Hawk Mk 132 aircraft, manufactured under licence by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the team will demonstrate its exceptional flying skills through a series of breathtaking manoeuvres, including loops, barrel rolls, inverted flying and the iconic DNA formation. Colourful saffron, white and green smoke trails accompanying the synchronised formations will add to the visual spectacle.

The event will offer residents of Bhavnagar an opportunity to witness the precision, coordination and professionalism of the Indian Air Force while bringing the spirit of Indian military aviation closer to the public.

Founded by Maharaja Bhavsinhji Gohil in the eighteenth century, Bhavnagar has a rich historical and maritime legacy. The aerobatic performance at Bortalav will add a special attraction to the city’s heritage, combining the excitement of precision flying with a celebration of national pride.

Established in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team has completed more than 850 displays in India and abroad. Popularly recognised as the ‘Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force’, the team has earned a distinguished reputation for its precision flying, discipline and spectacular performances.

The team is commanded by Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, with Wing Commander Tejeshwar Singh serving as Flight Commander. Wing Commander Abhimanyu Tyagi, the Senior Engineering Officer, oversees aircraft maintenance and the squadron’s technical operations.

The squadron comprises 18 officers, including 13 pilots, three engineering officers, one commentator and one medical officer. They are supported by approximately 180 technical personnel responsible for ensuring aircraft maintenance, serviceability and operational readiness.

Every performance reflects months of rigorous training, meticulous planning and exceptional coordination between pilots and ground personnel. Through its displays, the Suryakiran team highlights the capabilities of the Indian Air Force and inspires young Indians to pursue excellence and consider a career in the armed forces.

The upcoming Bhavnagar performance promises an unforgettable aerial spectacle, showcasing the skill, dedication and indomitable spirit of the Indian Air Force.
