The event also marked the inauguration of the first-ever National Consultation on Co-operative Education, bringing together policymakers, scholars, and industry leaders to deliberate on strengthening cooperative education in India.

The celebration was graced by eminent personalities from the cooperative movement.  Dileep Sanghani, President of the National Cooperative Union of India and IFFCO, and member of the University’s Governing Board, attended as the Chief Guest.  Satish Marathe, Founder Member of Sahakar Bharati, Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India, and a member of the University’s Governing Board, was present as the Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries on the dais included Dr. J.M. Vyas,  Vice Chancellor, “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University; Anand Kumar Jha, Joint Secretary (Policy), Ministry of Cooperation; Mukesh Kumar, Director (Cooperative Policy), Ministry of Cooperation; Dr. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF – Amul); and Dr. Saswata Narayan Biswas, Director, IRMA and Dean – School of Cooperative Management, “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University.

In his keynote address, Dileep Sanghani hailed Tribhuvandas Patel as a Jan Neta—a true leader of the people—whose ideals continue to guide India’s cooperative spirit. He highlighted the legacy of Patel’s partnership with Dr. Verghese Kurien, which transformed rural India through the Amul movement. Commending the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, Sanghani said that the ongoing Cooperative Revolution 2.0 is a result of the Ministry’s concerted efforts to strengthen cooperative institutions across the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Satish Marathe emphasized that this is the ideal moment to reshape India’s cooperative narrative. He underlined the unique ownership structure of cooperatives—member-driven and socially oriented—and stressed that true success lies in value-based and ethical governance. “There can be no Sahkarita without Sanskaar,” he remarked, urging new cooperatives to uphold integrity and human values as their core principles.

Paying tribute to Patel, Anand Kumar Jha described him as a visionary who empowered farmers through collectivization, turning Amul into a movement that changed India’s rural economy. He expressed hope that students and alumni of “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University would internalize Patel’s ethics and leadership values, noting that “ethics are not merely moral virtues, but a vital form of capital in today’s world.”

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. J.M. Vyas reminded the audience of the true purpose of the occasion—to reflect on Tribhuvandas Patel’s life, both as a compassionate human being and as a pioneering professional. He encouraged everyone to emulate Patel’s values of kindness, truthfulness, non-violence, and inclusivity, and to learn from his life through the academic and moral framework of the university.

The event concluded with heartfelt tributes from distinguished leaders representing national and state-level cooperative organizations, reaffirming Tribhuvandas Patel’s timeless contribution to India’s cooperative movement and his lasting influence on generations to come.
