Delhi Public School-Bopal, Ahmedabad hosted the Kalorex Literary Festival in association with the Kalinga Literary Festival, creating a vibrant platform dedicated to literary excellence and language appreciation. The inaugural session brought together educators, authors, journalists, and dignitaries who shared diverse perspectives on literature, culture, and creativity.

Ashok Kumar Bal, CEO and Patron of the Kalinga Literary Festival, reflected on the importance of literary gatherings in fostering dialogue, cultural exchange, and creative growth. Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Founder and President of the Kalinga Literary Festival, reiterated the vision of building inclusive literary spaces that unite varied voices, languages, and ideas.

Adding a forward-looking dimension, Manjula Pooja Shroff, Managing Director & CEO of the Kalorex Group, edupreneur and author, highlighted the need for thoughtful integration of technology with foundational literary values to ensure that digital innovations enhance the appreciation of language and literature. Celebrated poet and translator Deepa Agarwal spoke about the transformative power of imagination in shaping young minds and encouraged the celebration of reading as a gateway to creativity. Author and former journalist Savie Karnel emphasised the need for relatable, contemporary narratives for today’s generation, while literary critic and festival advisor Jatindra Kumar Nayak discussed the lasting influence of storytelling traditions on cultural identity.

The festival was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests including Narottam Sahoo, Senior Scientist at Gujarat Science City and Member Secretary of GUJCOST; Prashant Raval, writer, director, and stage actor; Ratnaraj Sheth, Managing Director of R.R. Sheth & Co. Pvt. Ltd.; author and life coach Ragini Bharadwaj; and Arti Mishra, Director of Academics at the Kalorex Group. Their insights and expertise added depth to the literary celebrations.

The event began with an inspiring address by Principal Sabina Sawhney, who reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing a culture of reading, literary appreciation, and expressive language skills. She highlighted the need for innovative and flexible pedagogical approaches to cultivate a lifelong love for literature and critical inquiry among students.

Panel discussions explored contemporary topics shaping education, creativity, and literary engagement. Experts examined the role of digital tools in language learning and the evolution of literature in the digital age, stressing the importance of mindful media use and adaptable, student-centered approaches. A session dedicated to children’s literature and creativity shared classroom strategies to strengthen reading culture and encourage storytelling through engaging activities.

Interactive workshops offered hands-on learning in creative writing, publishing, and narrative composition. Innovative sessions showcased the role of artificial intelligence in supporting literary creativity, demonstrating how technology can augment human imagination. The festival also celebrated India’s regional languages and linguistic diversity, highlighting literature’s role in strengthening cultural identity and mutual respect.

A lively array of stalls contributed to the festival’s energy. Kalorex Publications showcased their books alongside works by emerging and established authors, and curated offerings from the Yali store. The Counselling Department actively engaged visitors through the Career Compass, Wellness Circle, and Page Mates initiatives. A major attraction was “Ateet ke Jharokhe Se,” a stall by the Heritage Club, where students presented traditional food, refreshments, and handmade items inspired by India’s cultural heritage.

The festival concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the school’s Vice Head Boy and Vice Head Girl, followed by the National Anthem. The closing moments encapsulated the spirit of literary celebration, creative exploration, and intellectual exchange. Students departed with renewed enthusiasm for reading and storytelling, while educators gained valuable insights to enhance language instruction and literary appreciation.

The success of the Kalorex Literary Festival reaffirmed the significance of such gatherings in inspiring young learners, cultivating literary talent, and strengthening the culture of intellectual discourse within the school community.
