In a significant initiative aimed at breaking the stigma, misconceptions, and silence surrounding sex education, ZCAD Group organized a special book launch and expert panel discussion titled “Sex Education: Not Silence” at the J.B. Auditorium of the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA).

The event marked the formal launch of ‘Know Yourself (Sexual Knowledge For You)’, authored by noted educationist and sex education expert Dr. Bhadrayu Vachhrajani, who is widely recognized for pioneering academic work in the field of sex education in India.

The program brought together experts from education, medicine, and mental health to encourage informed conversations on sexuality and reproductive health. Joining the author on the panel were senior obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Mitali Vasavada, counselor and psychologist Rashmi Jha, and associate professor Dr. Margi Hathi. The discussion was moderated by Tejal Vasavada.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhadrayu Vachhrajani highlighted the need to treat sex education as a scientific subject rather than a social taboo.

“If we can explain the science of the digestive and respiratory systems to our children without hesitation, then why should we feel ashamed to teach or explain the science of the reproductive system?” he asked.

Drawing from his extensive academic experience spanning more than three decades, Dr. Vachhrajani emphasized that the reproductive system plays a vital role in shaping an individual’s overall personality and well-being. He explained that the book has been designed as a reliable self-learning resource for adolescents aged 13 and above, young adults, parents, and teachers seeking accurate information about sexuality.

According to the author, the English edition builds upon the success of his acclaimed Gujarati book ‘Tamari Jatne Olkho’, which has gone through more than 12 editions. The new version addresses contemporary challenges faced by young people, including confusion arising from social media exposure and misinformation available online. The book uses scientific explanations and illustrations to guide readers through various stages of physical, emotional, and sexual development.

Offering a medical perspective during the panel discussion, Dr. Mitali Vasavada stressed the importance of creating an environment where children feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues with their parents.

“Parents need to build friendly and trusting relationships with their children. When questions related to sexual health arise, they should seek guidance from qualified doctors and experts rather than relying on hearsay or unverified information,” she said.

Speaking on the psychological aspects of sexual health, Rashmi Jha pointed out that many individuals struggle silently with confusion, anxiety, or compulsive behaviors because of fear and social stigma.

“No one should suffer alone because of sexual confusion or emotional distress. Professional counselors can provide the right guidance, help individuals understand their concerns, and support them in making informed decisions,” she remarked.

Throughout the discussion, Dr. Margi Hathi facilitated meaningful interaction among the panelists, helping connect medical, psychological, and educational perspectives on the subject.

Representatives of ZCAD Group reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to long-term social awareness and positive change.
