Sri Lankan Police Delegation Visits RRU, Gujarat

Gandhinagar, July 09: A 20-member Sri Lankan police delegation, comprising senior officials of Deputy Inspector General rank and above, undertook a strategic exposure visit to Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Dehgam, Gujarat. This initiative, fully funded by India’s Ministry of External Affairs under its ongoing development cooperation with Sri Lanka, highlighted India’s commitment to regional security collaboration.
From July 7–8, participants engaged with RRU’s faculty and leadership—Pro‑Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh Wandra, Registrar Dr. Dharmeshkumar Prajapati, Dean Dr. Jasbirkaur Thadhani, and Mr. Ravish Shah, Director of International Cooperation & Relations. Sessions focused on best practices in policing, counterterrorism, cybercrime, prison management, leadership development, and modern policing technologies.
Speakers included IPS officer Dr. Neerja Gotru, DGP & Chairman of the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board & Training, who shared expertise on counter‑terrorism and introduced a pilot project between RRU and Gujarat Police. Sri Lanka’s Defence Attaché, Yagama Indika De’Silva, emphasized the significance of strengthened Indo‑Sri Lankan ties.
The delegation will proceed to New Delhi from July 9–11 for meetings with key Indian law enforcement and security agencies under the Home Ministry—NDRF, CBI, NSG, NIA, CISF, BSF, and Delhi Police—fostering deeper knowledge exchange and operational collaboration in areas of national and internal security.
