ICCI Workshop Promotes Energy Efficiency in Industries to Support India’s Net Zero Goals

Ahmedabad, Oct 19: In alignment with India’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) hosted a workshop titled “Adoption & Implementation of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries” in Ahmedabad on Friday.
The event was organized in collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC).
The workshop aimed to promote the integration of energy-efficient technologies, which are vital for decarbonization and reducing energy costs in industries. Inaugurating the event, Bhakti Shamal, Joint Secretary of Gujarat’s Energy & Petrochemical Department, underscored the urgent need for industries to adopt such technologies to meet Net Zero targets effectively.
Attracting over 100 participants from various sectors, including designated consumers, large energy-intensive industries, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), technology providers, and start-ups, the workshop highlighted the significant potential of advanced energy-efficient technologies in lowering operational costs and advancing environmental sustainability.
Discussions centered on the energy savings potential of these technologies, as well as the challenges and opportunities for their adoption in energy-intensive sectors. Participants also explored successful case studies demonstrating the implementation of energy-efficient technologies across various industries, along with support mechanisms from EESL, energy service companies, and technology vendors.
The event featured key addresses from industry leaders, including Girja Shankar, General Manager – Technical at EESL, who delivered the welcome address, and Sanjay Dubey, CEO & President of IIEC, who set the stage for the discussions. Prashant Kumar, Head-CDP & CGM at EESL, emphasized the critical importance of adopting energy-efficient technologies in his keynote address. Biju Namboothiri, Head of the FICCI Gujarat State Council, provided an introductory address, framing the workshop’s objectives.
The day-long workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Surender Kumar Verma, Additional Director of FICCI, who recognized the enthusiastic participation of industry representatives and stakeholders.
