Bajaj Finance Launches ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ Campaign in Ahmedabad

Part of its 100-city Cyber Security Awareness Drive to Combat Financial Scams

Ahmedabad, July 13: Bajaj Finance Ltd., India’s leading non-banking financial company (NBFC) under Bajaj Finserv, conducted a cyber fraud awareness campaign in Ahmedabad titled ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’. The initiative is part of the company’s 100-city cyber security programme aimed at empowering citizens with essential knowledge to guard their finances against rising digital threats.

Dignitaries Grace the Occasion

The event witnessed participation from several dignitaries, including Dr. Kamlesh V N, Vice Chancellor of Gandhinagar University, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gokulgiri Goswami, Retired IG Rajendra Jotangiya, and Retired ACP (ACB) N.D. Chavan.

Aligning with RBI’s Guidelines on Cyber Risk

The awareness programme supports the Reserve Bank of India’s 2024 Fraud Risk Management guidelines for NBFCs, focusing on early detection, accountability, and citizen education to build a secure digital ecosystem. Through interactive sessions and expert guidance, participants were briefed on growing scams such as fake social media profiles, phishing links, cloned websites, and impersonation tactics used by cybercriminals.

Cyber Police and Experts Share Crucial Insights

Speaking at the event, Inspector Miral Boricha of the Ahmedabad Cyber Police Range urged citizens not to fall for glamorous investment schemes on social media. She emphasized, “Cyber fraud is not a stigma. It can happen to anyone. But prompt reporting within the ‘Golden Hour’ on helpline 1930 is crucial to act fast and minimize damage.”

Sub-Inspector Karishma Chaudhari added that most frauds stem from either technological unawareness or the lure of easy money. She stressed on exercising caution while granting app permissions and engaging on digital platforms.

Cybersecurity expert Yash Kanani from Gandhinagar University cautioned attendees about emerging threats like WhatsApp hacking, digital arrests, and e-SIM frauds. “Being digitally active is vital today, but so is being alert. Avoid accepting friend requests from unknown profiles,” he warned.

A Bajaj Finance spokesperson reiterated the company’s commitment to consumer financial security, stating, “We are regularly issuing advisories and conducting offline and online interactions to educate users about cyber safety. ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ is our proactive step in building a fraud-aware society.”
