Ahmedabad, July 8: The design profession is evolving, and it’s up to designers to shape their future. Traditional design was focused on aesthetics, the visual appeal.  In the 21st century, designers have the opportunity to take a seat at the table, influence business decisions and even tackle complex societal challenges. So, if you want to make an impact—and a big, far-reaching one at that—you might find there’s never been a better time to be a designer.

Dr Himanshu Soni is the Pro VC and Agneshwari Adhiya is the Registrar of the School of Design.

An IITian Dr Himanshu Soni explained that the School of Design is working under the umbrella of the CVM University. CVM (Charutar Vidya Mandal) University is the biggest charitable trust of the country which envelopes 40 educational institutes under its umbrella. Situated at Vallabh Vidya Nagar, Anand in Gujarat the CVM University offers a comfortable 7,000 student capacity hostel facility at the campus”.

Dr Soni added that “We are offering two courses here one Animation VFX & Gaming and two, UI & UX. While the first is widely used by movie makers and game developers the UI UX enable multimedia development and speak of interface with the user and User experience designing. All high school (12th pass) students of any stream are eligible to join these courses”.

“In order to meet the growing demand of Gen Z who is required by the creative industries as qualified designers, artists and professionals, we decided to start this designing school. It works on 90 per cent practical and 10 per cent theory sessions model. Each semester is charged a modest fee of Rs 90,000. We are hiring leading design professionals as our faculty members”.

Agneshwari from highly educated background herself commented that “Our course curriculum covers a wide range of topics and skills crucial to the UI & UX, animation, visual effects, and gaming industries viz., animation fundamentals, game design, 3D modelling and texturing, industry immersion, User-Centered Design, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Prototyping and Testing and more”.

“Registration for the course is now open, and interested individuals are encouraged to visit CVM University to learn more about the program and secure their enrolment. Limited seats are available, and early applicants may qualify for exclusive scholarships” added Agneshwari.

According to Google, the design industry is currently growing at an annual rate of 25%, across disciplines. Yet, for all the exciting potential and ability that exists in design in India—and her proud crafts heritage—the country still requires some 62,000 designers, out of which presently only 7,000. CVM University is determined to play an important role in it.
